For issues unique to doggie-early teens from scoping out your kitchen counters and stealing food off of tables, to jumping on people and pulling on the leash, making walks a drag... Off leash play and teaching them to come when called, even if they're "busy" with something else! How to deal with the various stages they are going through: increased independence, sudden fears of familiar things, running away... Most of the work will be on keeping their attention, learning to "insist" that they do as you tell them, not pulling on the leash, deal with frustration (yours and theirs!) and teaching them to use self control.

We will be practicing all of those commands in an exciting and fun class with LOTS of distractions and real world type tasks. The dogs will learn to stay, off leash, with you at a distance, even with people and dogs walking past them. They will learn to come, when called, even past other dogs and people with treats, and they will learn to wait while you pick things up and let you carry your coffee (or whatever else) without pulling on the leash ans making you spill it! There will be contests and games and teams and races to get the tasks done in the most reliable and quickest way. This is a fun class that really teaches dogs to work under pressure, which is what being out in the world IS, for them.

CASUAL, ongoing play group for small breeds (under 20lbs)JOIN AT ANY POINT. This is a social group for the dogs to blow off some steam and the owners to swap brags and stories. Please bring a small snack, to share (with the humans) and wine is welcome, as well! This is a fun evening, for all, but tends to be a little boring for kids as the adults talk about grown-up things and the dogs are busy playing with each other. It is $15 per night as a drop-in or $60 for 6 nights to be used in any 12 week period. Drop-ins should be paid when you come, but the 6 night deal can be paid through Pay Pal, when you sign up, here. If you're not on the current roster, you won't get an email or phone call if one of the sessions is canceled. Limit is 13 dogs, first 13 dogs are in. This is a time to ask for training advice, but is not a training session. My first priority is the dogs playing and staying safe and happy; I will answer questions as long as everything is going smoothly. If your dog is being a bully, you'll be asked to give him time-outs when I deem it necessary. Now for the "no"s No intact male dogs over 7 months old. No dogs that are aggressive to other dogs or people, under any circumstances. If your dog becomes aggressive during the play time, you will be asked to leave. PLEASE bring paper towels as "accidents" and marking are not uncommon and you are responsible for cleaning up after your dog. The dogs go home happy and tired and the "regulars" are very wonderful people and they and their dogs are more than happy to help your fearful dog become more confident and playful.
